Putting Equity to Work in the Neighborhood

In 2016, Class Action fiscally sponsored Putting Equity to work in the Neighborhood as an incubator project in Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, Dorchester and Roxbury. The goals are to engage people in community spaces to benefit low-income and working class people in the following ways:

  • Peace building and nonviolence skills development
  • Democratic civic engagement to teach organizing and collective decision making
  • Building community commons and cooperative economic development
  • Networking – films, conferences, trainings, talks, debates, games, parties and fundraising activities

The initial projects include building a mutual-aid transportation cooperative and a building a collective for low-income women called Women Cooperating.
