Educational Programming Internship

30-40 hours a week

This position would have four elements:

1) Conducting research about independent and public schools, their funding, how to market to them and creating databases for all collected information.

2) Researching and compiling an extensive resource list for our K-12 Teacher Toolkit which would provide resources for teachers who would like to be more inclusive of class diversity in their teaching and/or teach about class.

3) Producing and editing a Class Action Zine.

4) Assisting with the day-to-day operations of Class Action including, but not limited to, data entry, mailings, program promotion, and filing.

Wealth Blind Admissions Campaign Internship

30-40 hours a week

This position would have six elements:

1) Literature search on articles and information on economic or class inequality in higher education, “wealth blind admissions” policies and activities.

2) Write up one or two articles/reviews for student newspapers about the “Price of Admission”

3) Look up additional information on schools that have “wealth blind” admissions policies. Find any statements or press coverage about their policies. Many of them mentioned at the end of “Price of Admission”

4) Research and development of a Class on Campus activist tool box with information about the range of class and economic issues on campus that student activists might organize on along with resources that they can use for organizing.

5) Identify 25-35 New England campuses with active student groups addressing affirmative action, classism, and other diversity issues. Find current listings of active students in these groups

6) Assisting with the day-to-day operations of Class Action including, but not limited to, data entry, mailings, program promotion, and filing.

Knowledge and interest in the class, classism is essential. Knowledge with Mac platform and advanced computer, desk-top publishing, and web-design skills would be a real plus.
