2008 Internship/Work-Study
Class Action is a national non-profit whose mission is to inspire action to end classism. We raise awareness, facilitate cross-class dialogue, support cross-class alliances, and work with others to promote economic justice.
Communications/Media Internship
30-40 hours a week in J-term & Summer
Minimum 8-10 hours a week Spring and Fall Semesters
Join in helping to promote Class Action’s work to a wider audience. Experience the nuts and bolts of a nonprofit while learning valuable skills that can be applied anywhere.
This internship will have include the following elements:
Conduct outreach for new edition of Class Warrior Zine
- Edit and produce Class Warrior Zine, second edition
- Write features about Class Action
- Produce Podcasts for Class Action Website
- Promote Class Action to local and national media
Skills: Ability to
- work independently
- follow instructions and ask for clarity when needed
- conduct web-based research, word processing, and quickly learn a database program
- report accurately on all projects
- communicate needs
- attend to details
- write up research
- talk comfortably with allied organizations and media
Knowledge and interest in class, classism, and writing is essential. Knowledge with Mac platform and advanced computer, desk-top publishing, and data-base skills would be a real plus.
Limited stipends available: Class Action is committed to having an economically diverse staff. If you have the means to refuse the stipend in order for someone else to receive it, please let us know. If you have a work-study stipend you may be able to use it at Class Action. Credit might also be arranged.
