Class Action is developing this part of our web site to
include a range of issues linked to class, including education,
health care, housing, taxes, and wage inequality. Most
important organizing work is done at the local level, in
your community. We feature this national activity
as a resource. We welcome your ideas and suggestions!
May 2006 Action Against Classism
Support Fair Trade
Governors Kulongoski and
Baldacci (of
Oregon and Maine, repsectively) have each made bold pro-fair trade
statements
by asking President Bush to not include the states they represent in the
World
Trade Organization's upcoming General Agreement on Trade in Services
(GATS).
Citizen's Trade Campaign, an organization that works around issues of
global
equality, is asking for people to contact their governor and ask them to
back
Kulongoski and Baldacci.
According to Citizen's Trade Campaign, the "GATS threatens state and local governments’ ability to set their own policies in areas including public services, health care, land use and zoning, higher education, and gambling."
Please take action and let your governor hear your thoughts on this issue: http://www.citizenstrade.org/askyourgovernor.php
